Going The Extra Mile
Going the Extra Mile is our way of awarding our employees who go above and beyond the call of duty. Residents, family members and employees are encouraged to nominate an employee who has performed exceptionally well in a specific scenario. Each month, the Going the Extra Mile Committee will review the nominations and choose a winner. The winner will receive a special parking spot, a personalized plaque in the lobby, and a cash prize of $100. A yearly winner will be chosen from the pool of monthly winners. The yearly winner will receive a $500 prize.
At The Harbor, we focus on providing "A Purposeful Day" for our residents. Our caring staff is trained to value each resident and to recognize the different histories, current desires, and needs. We recognize that memory loss effects everyone differently, and that is why we develop a special service plan for each resident. A Purposeful Day focuses of four types of non-drug therapy - Reminisce Therapy, Trusted Voice Therapy, Time and Place Therapy, and Music Therapy.
The SimpleC storyboard is a vital part of our resident's Purposeful Day. For our residents at The Harbor, the SimpleC Companion provides non-medication therapies, focusing on each resident's personal story. We work with families to select stories, pictures, interests, and record trusted voices to assist in memory stimulation and timely reminders for activities of daily living. . Clinical trials show that Simple C can decrease agitation, wandering, incontinence, the need for certain medications and increase appetite, social interaction, sleep time and normal waking pattern among residents with dementia.
We encourage our residents to "Live Well" at Renaissance Marquis. We partner with each resident to provide the education, support and services he or she needs to help maintain, and many times improve, their health and wellbeing. We work with our residents to customize their "Live Well" service plan. They will find many opportunities to follow their individualized plan through social interaction, balanced nutritional choices, physical activity, and spiritual involvement. As each resident grows and is able to accomplish more, we will work with them to continually upgrade and change their service plan to suit their needs. As a result, they will grow stronger physically, mentally and spiritually.
Legacy Cares, Inc. is a nonprofit organization that helps supports the team members of senior living communities served by its affiliate, Legacy Senior Living.
